ON BASIC FACTS OF WORK

Jobs are very prized for most people. For most people, the loss of a job is a personal misfortune that ranks right up there alongside the loss of a loved one. A job is one's lifeline their sole. It is one's food, home, it’s all that one needs for living. A threat to your job is a threat to your existence and your livelihood.

For most people living in today’s world, a good rewarding job is a very scarce commodity, and can be very hard to find and keep. There may be many jobs listed as available in the newspaper, but you usually find that they all require expertise and background that you simply don't have. These jobs are mostly advertising for job transmittals (my word for same qualification positions meaning you’re a mechanic looking for a change). Finding a job for which you qualify, or finding a slot that you can slip into, is a long, difficult and frustrating task for most people. This fact, combined with the vital necessity for having a job, is why keeping a job, once you have it, so very important, even if you are frustrated and not happy within that environment.

In the natural world, among wild things, the rule is that the strongest survive and the weak die. Many animals are eaten by predators or die of starvation, or of some other cause. It’s just the cruel way things work in nature. In the world of man, in the realm of economics and jobs, a similar law like that just mentioned prevails. There are more people who need jobs than there are jobs, it’s that simple. Jobs are man's bread and butter. He competes everyday with his fellow man for this very precious commodity. The strong win and the weak lose. The law of the "survival of the fittest" is in action every time you go to work or look for work. Although for women sadly it can be how young and good looking you are.

Who are the strong and who are the weak? In a world that is rapidly becoming more and more complicated and technical, more of the jobs require special technical knowledge, arrogance and expertise. Those in the societies who have put many years of training into preparing themselves and attaining that knowledge of success, are the strong, Those who because of inability, kindness, laziness, or some other reason have not achieved that level of education, special knowledge and expertise needed to successfully complete, are the weak, and they are the ones who lose out every time. They are the ones who socially die, who become the angry, downtrodden ones of modern society. As science and technology continues to automate more and more of the jobs out there, there will be fewer and fewer jobs available for the growing amount of people, and the competition for these fewer jobs will become more and more fierce. A job is more than just a person’s livelihood and means of survival; it is their self-esteem, their image of themselves. Take a job away from someone, and you are dealing them a terrible psychological blow as well as economic blow, but hey, that’s just the way it works.
